SSSC National & Zonal Colours
The award encourages excellence in sports and games and serves to give recognition to students representing the Singapore Schools Sports Council and for attaining a high lelvel of achievement in sports and games isted in its official calendar. More importantly, it stands to reinforce core educational values by promoting exemplary conduct and good sportsmanship.
The Zone Colours is the first level of recognition. This is followed by the National Colours. Within the National Colours, the council awards the "Best School Boy" and "Best School Girl" for individual and team sports to athletes who have done exceptionally well in national and international sports competitions.
In addition, Special Colours were introduced in 2004 as a wider recognition to athletes with national representation in sports not in the SSSC Calendar. The representation for Singapore must be in one of the following competitions; Olympic Games, ASIAN Games, Commonwealth Games and SEA Games.
